Grizzlies Season Preview Dinner

Event Marks Back-to-Back Nights of Charity Events by the Dave Joerger Foundation

Memphis, Tenn. – Memphis Grizzlies Head Coach Dave Joerger will host the Second Annual “Grizzlies Season Preview Dinner with Dave Joerger” on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. at the Colonial Country Club (2736 Countrywood Pkwy, Cordova, TN 38016). This marks Joerger’s fourth event benefitting the National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL), inspiring the creation of the Dave Joerger Foundation which will present this year’s dinner.

Event guests will be able to mix and mingle with Joerger and his assistant coaches during a meet-and-greet style cocktail hour starting at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner and commencement of the scheduled program at 7 p.m.

“I’m thrilled to partner with Tennis Memphis and Colonial Country Club to continue building the momentum they have in bringing the power of sport to the Memphis community,” said Joerger. “Over the last two years, the NJTL’s after-school programming has expanded into 40 new schools locally and also into the Boys and Girls Clubs of Memphis.  During the school year, Tennis Memphis reaches 500-1000 students weekly through NJTL’s after-school education programs and activities. It’s a cause that is being carried out exactly how Arthur Ashe envisioned when he founded the NJTL as a way to bring tennis to underserved youth.”

Grizzlies Radio Play-by-Play announcer and 92.9 FM ESPN Radio Host Eric Hasseltine will emcee a silent auction which will include sports memorabilia, a golf outing at Colonial Country Club with the Grizzlies coaching staff, a Grizzlies Experience ticket package to a Grizzlies home game, among other basketball- and tennis-themed items.

Tickets for the event are $100 in advance and $125 at the door. Click here to register for the event. Pre-registration closes on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 5 p.m.

The Grizzlies Ticket Sales department will have a table available on-site for any event guests wishing to purchase tickets for the upcoming 2015-16 campaign.

For more than a decade, Tennis Memphis has impacted the lives of Memphis’ youth through its NJTL Tennis Summer Camps, and with year-round youth development programming at municipal tennis centers and schools in the Memphis area.

Annually, 2000 children participate in Tennis Memphis’ seven-week NJTL Summer Tennis Camps of which 80 percent are partially or fully supported through scholarships.

Today, thousands of Memphis-area children who otherwise would never have set foot on a tennis court have benefitted from tennis icon Arthur Ashe’s vision. In addition to learning tennis, children are coached in academic excellence, life skills and leadership, and many of them ultimately attend college on tennis scholarships. Most importantly, they learn what it means to be good citizens.
